IBF welterweight champion Errol Spence is keeping a close eye on proceedings this weekend between two of his rivals at 147lbs.
He knows a fight against the winner could be easily made in 2019 given the fact both guys are with the same manager as him, Al Haymon.
Also, both box on the same network (Showtime) and both are part of the Premier Boxing Champions stable.
At some point, you’d have to think in 2019 that all these guys are going to fight one another in a different combination of matchups in-house.
Speaking ahead of Saturday’s fight, IBF welterweight world champion Errol Spence said:
“I definitely want to fight the winner of Danny Garcia vs. Shawn Porter. That’s a close fight. I always picked against Danny Garcia in the past, and he always proved me wrong. Shawn Porter’s always a tough fight, because he’s going to come forward and give it his all. He’s basically trying to mug you. But for this fight, it’s hard to go against Danny Garcia. I pick Danny Garcia to win a split decision.”
It’s seldom you’d see someone pick a split decision exactly beforehand but hey, you’d certainly get good odds on making such a call in that exact manner ahead of time.
If you’re that way inclined.
