Danny Garcia and Shawn Porter will contest the WBC welterweight championship of the world on Saturday night at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
Garcia is no stranger to big fights. Not is Porter.
Both former world champions who want their shot at the big time back. Both on a mission to prove they’re the best welterweight in the world.
But it’s a shark pool of hunters at 147lbs at the moment.
The likes of Errol Spence and Terence Crawford perhaps the two killer whales at the top of the welterweight ocean, with Garcia and Porter more Great White sharks until they can prove otherwise.
Killer Wales vs Great White Sharks analogies aside, Garcia has his eyes on a Spence fight already:
Speaking ahead of the fight, Garcia said:
“My style is totally different from Keith Thurman, so I hope Shawn isn’t going off of that fight. I know I’m a better boxer than Shawn Porter and I’m going to make sure everyone else knows it too. I absolutely want to unify with Errol Spence Jr. after I win. I want the biggest fights. This would be my fourth world title. All I’ve ever done is face everyone they put in front me and I’ve earned those huge fights.”
The fight would be relatively easy to make as both guys box for the same network and are managed by US power player Al Haymon.
The fight this weekend between Porter and Garcia is live on Showtime in the US and on BoxNation in the UK.
