Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Boxing and DAZN have made huge waves in the sport today with the signing of one of the pound for pound standouts in boxing.

Ukraine boxing dynamo Alexander Usyk recently won the cruiserweight tournament of the first season of the World Boxing Super Series that saw him capture the Muhammad Ali trophy with a win in the final over Gassiev.

It saw him capture all four world titles in the cruiserweight division.

Now, it’s confirmed he’s signed with Eddie Hearn and DAZN in the US:

Certainly a substantial signing from Hearn and new US streaming platform DAZN.

This is arguably the best signing Hearn and Matchroom have made so far since announcing their plans to promote boxing in the US earlier this year.

Usyk has been linked with a fight against the UK’s Tony Bellew later this year but a mandatory issue with one of the governing bodies had looked like it was going to scupper it.

However in recent days there is positive sentiment around the fight happening once again.
