Donnie Nietes was in humble mood at the final press conference ahead of the biggest fight of his life on Saturday night.
The Filipino boxer will challenge for a world title in his fourth weight class when he challenges for the WBO super-flyweight title in California on Saturday as part of Tom Loeffler’s ‘Super Fly 3’ event.
Nietes has been quietly confident all week but will face a much taller and younger opponent on Saturday, so he’ll have his work cut out.
Speaking at the final press conference Nietes said:
“This is a dream come through for me to be fighting for a fourth division world title. We will put up a great show with Aston. Thank you and God bless.”
On how he could the nickname ‘Ahas’ (Snake) he added:
“Before I am a janitor at the gym. I take care of the gym for my manager. Then after boxing, I bring the snake inside the ring during the fight. Thank you so much!”
Saturday’s fight will be live on HBO.
