Danny Garcia Gives Emotional Reaction To Porter Loss

A visibly upset Danny Garcia spoke to the press straight after his defeat to Shawn Porter in this weekend’s boxing at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

The fight ended in a unanimous points decision victory for Porter in a bout that was shown live on Showtime and one that saw Porter capture the vacant WBC welterweight world championship.

The defeat marks another tough loss for Garcia this year after losing to Keith Thurman last year.

It will be back to the drawing board no doubt for 2019 and a rebuilding mission for Garcia, but he certainly has time on his side and can definitely bounce back.

Speaking after the fight Garcia said:

“It was a tough fight, thought it was a close fight, thought it went my way but guess it didn’t go my way. We move onto the next.”

He added:

“It is what it is. That’s the way he fights. He’s got an ugly style. It is what it is. You know, I don’t know how to feel right now. I’m a true champion. I just got to sit back and see what’s next for me to be honest with you.”

Boxing under Al Haymon, a manager who has a whole host of big name welterweights at the moment will no doubt see new opportunities for Garcia down the line at some point.
