Amir Khan was a keen spectator tonight having shared the ring with Canelo Alvarez a couple of years ago in one of his most devastating losses to date.
Khan on that night moved from welterweight to middleweight and paid the price with a brutal, wide open right hand knockout from Canelo.
A couple of years away from the sport followed for Khan who since has recently returned to winning ways.
Speaking on Twitter tonight on Canelo’s majority points decision win over Gennady Golovkin, Khan said:
What a fight #CaneloGGG2 I gave the fight to Canelo. It was toe to toe action, Very exciting. Canelo surprised us all with the come forward pressure game plan. Well done to both Canelo and GGG. Boxing needed this @HBOboxing @GoldenBoyBoxing

Indeed, the tactics from Canelo were not predicted by hardly anyone before hand.
His promoter Oscar De La Hoya did say in the build up mind you that he had to ‘bully the bully’ and ‘push Golovkin back’ but no one actually thought he would.
The fight itself proved to be an excellent boxing contest too, with plenty of skill, shot selection and fundamentally superb aspects of the sweet science on show.
Overall, an excellent bout a night for the noble art at the highest level.
