Pound for pound rated Terence Crawford was one of the many star fighters who expressed their opinion on the fight this weekend.
Crawford had a similar opinion to many within boxing.
When he was waiting on the verdict to be called out he opined:
I got GGG for the win

But when the decision went Canelo’s way, Crawford said vocally what many were saying behind the scenes in the run up to the fight:
Wow good fight but we know the game he needed a knock out

Surely Golovkin knew he needed to win by knockout to win the fight, too.
As did coach and promoter. They knew what they were in for.
That said, there’s no corruption involved in the result in my opinion.
They simply wouldn’t have gotten away with it with all the focus on the bout after the first one.
The result ultimately just didn’t go Golovkin’s way.
That’s not to say it won’t again if they go for a part three.
As for Crawford, Canelo now moves up higher on the pound for pound list in pursuit of people like Crawford.
But for me, Crawford still sits above Canelo pound for pound.
