Former pound for pound number one Andre Ward and ESPN broadcaster Stephen Smith have had a difference of opinions on the outcome of Canelo vs GGG 2.
Canelo Alvarez won a majority points decision over Gennady Golovkin this past weekend in a decision that has split the boxing public.
After the fight the majority of press ringside either scored it a draw or in favor of Golovkin.
Ward feels Canelo dominated the fight overall however, not winning every round, but staying in control of the fight.
Stephen A.Smith debated it with him on live TV:
I think what Ward says there towards the end is probably spot on.
Don’t expect a third fight.
Even though I’m sure many boxing fans around the world would love to see it, Canelo will likely move on to a bout against WBO champion Billy Joe Saunders in the new year.
In the meantime he has been tabbed to face David Lemieux this December.
As for Golovkin, the first fight of his professional career that he has lost no doubt will take some time to get over mentally but I’d expect to see him back stronger than ever in the new year.
