Mikey Garcia had been in line for a fight with Manny ‘Pacman’ Pacquiao himself but it looks like Floyd Mayweather has gotten in the way of those plans temporarily.
Garcia had been tabbed to move up two weights to take on Pacquiao next or Errol Spence.
Now it looks like Spence is the leading fight for Garcia next up.
Speaking to EsNews, Garcia has his doubts about Mayweather vs Pacquiao 2:
“It’s crazy. I think so (that it will happen). I don’t think he’s (Mayweather) serious.”
Well, things appear to be at a pretty serious stage.
Pacquiao himself earlier this morning told the media that a deal is being finalized this week and Mayweather’s adviser Leonard Ellerbe also said words over the weekend intimating that the story is not false.
I can’t see why Mayweather would waste his time in making such a public announcement unless it was real.
The main questions for me about the whole thing are how will it happen in Vegas if Manny doesn’t want to fight in the States and if Wilder vs Fury is happening on Showtime pay per view in December in Vegas, how could they go up against that with their own pay per view in the same month.
Unless they made a super event with both fights on the same night.
