Boxing legend James Toney has come out with his honest thoughts on a proposed Mayweather vs Pacquiao 2 fight. A bout thought to be in the works to happen before the end of the year.
While many within the boxing community have bashed Mayweather’s decision to announce he was coming back to stage a Mayweather vs Pacquiao rematch event, Toney has taken the opposite approach.
The former world champion speaking to Tha Boxing Voice at the Mayweather Boxing Club said:
“I say more power to him. If they do it I’m happy for them. I think (it will be) the same fight, same style. A decision for Floyd Mayweather.”
Toney was never one to bow to popular convention.
Always one to speak his mind.
One of the interesting things I always found with Toney was the almost split personality he took to his interviews when he was promoting a fight versus when he was like the above, just chilling and being himself.
An often loud, ultra charged Toney would bash anyone he could verbally before his fights.
But a more down to Earth, relaxed, almost docile Toney appeared when he’s talking about the sport and in general, anything to do outside of when he had something to promote.
