Former multi-weight world champion turned successful boxing promoter, Oscar De La Hoya’s open letter to fans following the weekend’s Canelo vs GGG 2 fight has blown up his face.
In a bold PR move De La Hoya came out firing and bullish in this candid letter to fans following the weekend’s fight between Canelo and Gennady Golovkin.
His fighter Canelo walked away with the belts via a majority points decision.
The response to the above letter appears to be one of a fan revolt on social media thus far.
Here’s some of the sentiment being expressed at present by members of the fight fratenity:
de la Hoya’s holier than thou bs is very convenient. Let’s see him take this stand after every close call goes against his guy over 24 rounds. The worst thing about Golden Boy promotions is Golden Boy himself. Makes me not want to watch his promotions

What a joke Oscar. I think it’s pretty evident GGG can’t win a decision in Vegas. If that were in the Uk, Germany or elsewhere, no chance Canelo wins. This from the LA Times sums it up, almost nobody had Canelo winning: https://t.co/wk2yg30MXR

Attacking boxing fans is not the smartest thing to do whether you agree with individual opinions or not! They are the ones who buy your product. Treat them with disrespect and you will eventually go out of business!

Ok so compubox numbers alone wont win fights, its generalsmanship and clean hits, among other factors. Floyd beat Oscar with all that AND the compubox numbers in his favor. Yet Oscar still cries that he got robbed. Works for Canelo but not Floyd?? ?

I have been a lifelong ultra sports fan…I don’t think I have ever went from loving someone at one point in career to absolutely hating a sports figure as much as this guy….middle finger to you oscar
