Many thought Canelo Alvarez was in line to take on David Lemieux in a voluntary defence this December but not the case. A fighter from the UK has instead got the honor.
The newly crowned middleweight number one Canelo Alvarez from Mexico will return the ring before the year is out following his points win last month against Gennady Golovkin in Las Vegas.
Canelo showed superb boxing skill in the win but more than anything, he surprised people with his aggressive willingness to push Golovkin back onto the back foot for large parts of the contest.
Canelo has faced a tough Liverpool fighter in the past in the form of Liam Smith but now, he takes on another one next up:

What a fight, congrats to Rocky Fielding on landing the fight and opportunity of his life.
A stunning announcement indeed that not one single person this scribe knows in the business predicted or saw coming.
Madison Square Garden, too.
Lovely stuff and a pre-Christmas treat for boxing fans on both sides of the pond to look forward to.
