Newly crowned WBO middleweight world champion Demetrius Andrade had some words of warning for Gennady Golovkin after his win on Saturday.
A Canelo Alvarez fight could also be on the cards for Andrade next year as they both now fight on the same platform in the US.
Speaking after the fight his promoter Eddie Hearn reaffirmed this point:
“I said that if you (Golovkin) want to fight Canelo or the middleweight world champions then you have to fight on DAZN. That’s DAZN. If you want to fight Canelo you have to be on DAZN. We’ve got an 11 fight deal with Canelo so he has to fight Demetrius Andrade within that. He has to.”
Demetrius Andrade then said to Golovkin:
“He ain’t going to have the opportunity to win a world title because I’m going to whoop his a**!”
The middleweight division is certainly buzzing at the moment.
Add to this mix too Billy Joe Saunders who at some stage next year should be back pending on what happens with his current appeal.
Canelo fights Rocky Fielding at 168lbs on December 15th but could very well be tempted back to middleweight if the right fights are out there for him next year.
