Danny Jacobs became a two-time world champion on Saturday night in New York but only after an absolute blood and guts war with Sergiy Derevyanchenko.
Jacobs who’s been in plenty of wars in his career looked to still be making improvements as a fighter.
He won a split decision at Madison Square Garden last night live on HBO.
An incredible achievement again from Jacobs when you consider he beat cancer only 7 years ago and in that time after being told he would never box again, has become a two-time world champion.
The cards were a little close in the eyes of some but afterwards Jacobs paid tribute to his friend and foe for the twelve rounds.
An early knockdown scored by Jacobs proved to be the difference on the scorecards in the end.
The folks at Sky Sports (hat tip) have put together a solid highlight reel in case you missed the fight:
Watch the highlights as Daniel Jacobs became a two-time world middleweight champion with a split decision win over Sergiy Derevyanchenko.

A great fight all round and credit to both boxers.
After the fight Jacobs turned his attention to Canelo Alvarez whom he called out for a fight in the new year.
Canelo next faces Rocky Fielding on December 15th at Madison Square Garden.
