Lucas Matthysse Coach Brutally Honest About Pacquiao vs Broner

Last time out Manny Pacquiao scored a TKO victory for the first time in over nine years against Argentinian Lucas Matthysse. Matthysse’s coach has now spoken candidly on what he thinks of Pacquiao’s next fight against Adrien Broner.

January 19th in Las Vegas is thought to be the leading date and location at the moment for Broner vs Pacquiao and plenty of fighters and trainers in the boxing world are having their say on the fight.

Speaking to AB Boxing News, Lucas Matthysse coach Joel Diaz said of the fight:

“Out of all those fighters (at welterweight from Premier Boxing Champions) I think he will be like the weakest link to fight Manny Pacquiao coming into the new promotional deal with Al Haymon. I think if you put Errol Spence, Shawn Thurman, Keith Thurman and Adrien Broner, from all those four fighters obviously they are going to start of Manny Pacquiao with the easiest fight. I’m not saying it’s an easy fight but it will be easier than the other names.”

He added:

“It going to be a great fight don’t get me wrong, Adrien Broner always puts up great fights, he never turns anyone down and stepping in the ring with Manny Pacquiao is not an easy fight. It’s a dangerous fight for him.”

Ultimately, you’d have to think both Pacquiao and Haymon’s plan is to look at this Broner fight as a set up for a fight with Floyd Mayweather later in 2019.
