Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach has chimed in what he thought of the recent Gennady Golovkin vs Canelo Alvarez rematch and who he thought won.
Freddie has trained some of the best in the game in his glittering career and like many last time out, he agreed with the decision in the GGG vs Canelo 2 rematch.
Speaking to Fight Hub, Roach said:
“Canelo (I thought won). He forced the fight. He backed him up all night long. You’ve got to give the close rounds to the aggressor. He did that all night. Yes I was very surprised (with Canelo’s strategy to do that).”
He went on to say:
“I thought that GGG did win the first fight and he lost the second one, I mean, there is room for a rematch but I hear rumors about guys moving up in weight classes.”
Canelo moves up to 168lbs for his next fight on December 15th against Rocky Fielding.
Golovkin is reportedly in talks to move to new streaming service DAZN at present with Canelo Alvarez having signed an 11 fight deal recently to box on the platform in the US over the next 5 years.
Promoter Eddie Hearn who has a stable boxing on DAZN mentioned recently that the only way a third fight between Golovkin and Canelo happens is if it takes place on the DAZN streaming service moving forward.
