Lineal heavyweight champion Tyson Fury has gone on record about why he employed legendary trainer Freddie Roach in his team ahead of his challenge for the WBC heavyweight championship of the world against Deontay Wilder on December 1st in LA.
Earlier this week head trainer of Fury, Ben Davison cleared up that he is still the head trainer and it had been his decision to reach out to Freddie in the first place.
Freddie will be a cut man and adviser on fight night and also in the build-up to the final weeks before the bout.
Fury explained the decision on a media conference call:
Bringing in someone like Freddie Roach can only be a plus point if anything.
Ricky Hatton will also be in the corner on fight night, it is expected.
Fury and Wilder are now in the very hardest part of their training and with just a little over a week or two left in training, there will be an emphasis on not picking up any injuries in this crucial part of training camp.
The bout will take place at the Staples Center in LA on December 1st and will be live on Showtime pay per view in what is expected to be one of the biggest heavyweight title fights in years.
