Adrien Broner is perhaps an habitual line crosser when it comes to hyping a fight and trash talk but today at his press conference with Manny Pacquiao in LA he went even further than usual.
Ahead of the January 19th pay per view fight on Showtime both men seemed in more jovial mood today while reporters watched on.
When announcer Jim Grey brought up the fact Pacquiao is bringing Hall of Famer Freddie Roach into his team for the fight, Broner replied:
“You bringing Freddie back? Nah, I don’t have nightmares. I’m happy he bringing Freddie back so we can get this thing shaking.”
Freddie currently suffers from Parkinson’s disease of which some of the symptoms can be shaking and tremors.
The comment from Broner brought gasps from the media in attendance.
Broner added:
“I ain’t hoping. Hope ain’t no strategy. This ain’t going to be no luck. I just feel like he can’t beat me. Look at my resume. What do I do to southpaws? I stop them. So going into this fight I’m very confident, he’s a southpaw and I’m going to do what I always do — dismantle him.”
Pacquiao is starting out as the favorite with bookmakers at this time with just a little over 8 weeks until the first bell.
