Former undisputed heavyweight champion of the world Lennox Lewis knows all too well about travelling to the States for big fights and coming up against controversial judging.
The main bone of contention for him in this regard came against Evander Holyfield during Lewis’ illustrious boxing career.
He’d go on to right that wrong in another fight with Holyfield — but its always a memory that stays close his mind.
Last night many felt Tyson Fury was hard done by to not being given the win against WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder and this is something Lewis certainly echoes:
This #WilderFury judging takes me back to my first fight with @holyfield Just goes to show how hard it is for a Brit to come to America and take someone’s belt even tho that’s what we clearly saw. Big up to @Tyson_Fury who never ceases to amaze me. Hold ur head high! ???

Boxing fans for the most part think he’s on the ball with the above sentiment expression:
Why is boxing in America so corrupt? No wonder why everyone wants to fight in the UK

Why doesn’t boxing have a system where the scoring in each round is averaged across three judges so there is less chance of one judge influencing the result? You could even throw in a 4th judge to make the average score more robust

Thank you, Lennox. Fury needs Britain to stand with him. He is the best heavyweight if this generation without a doubt. Unbelievable how amatuer he made Wilder look for every round other than 9 and 12. An absolutely amazing boxer.
