It was case that father time looked to have caught up with the always brave Kell Brook tonight.
The popular UK boxer from Sheffield won a unanimous points decision over Michael Zerafa in his hometown tonight in what proved to be a disappointing night of boxing overall.
You’re never going to have a cracker of a show every week though, to be fair.
Brook was looking at this fight as a warm up to get down to welterweight to fight Amir Khan in the new year but one wonders will the fight even happen at this stage.
Khan will probably be encouraged by what he said tonight, mind you.
But it looks to have lost a lot of momentum around it now and particularly with Khan now looking at a possible fight against Terence Crawford in the new year.
The Brook vs Khan fight looks to be one that got away sadly.
It was a fight that years ago would have electrified the boxing world, no doubt.
