At one time both Pacquiao and Terence Crawford were promotional stablemates at Top Rank with a very realistic chance of a fight happening between the two.
As fate would have it however Pacquiao would move on from his old promoter and now works with Al Haymon — while pound for pound star Crawford continues to go from strength to strength on ESPN with Top Rank.
Speaking to Fight Hype on a fight never materialising between the two in the end — Crawford said:
“He really wasn’t (interested in a fight with me) but that’s neither here nor there. Like I always said before Pacquiao doesn’t make Terence Crawford’s career. I’m young, I got a lot left in the sport of boxing and I just fell like my career is going upwards.”
On the upcoming Pacquiao vs Adrien Broner fight on January 19th, Crawford added:
“Yeah, of course (Broner can win). Broner has got enough skills and talent to beat any guy on any given date depending on how serious he takes the fight. You never know (if Pacquiao’s age will catch up with him), he looked good in his last fight (against Lucas Matthysse) — but you never know which Pacquiao is going to show up.”
Crawford at this time does not have a confirmed opponent just yet for 2019 but constant calls are coming for a showdown with fellow pound for pound welterweight star Errol Spence.
