Last weekend’s WBC heavyweight title fight continues to split the boxing world and ESPN commentator and leading trainer Teddy Atlas has pulled no punches in his assessment of the contest.
Atlas while speaking on ESPN with Stephen A.Smith clearly feels that champion Deontay Wilder was exposed by the more skilled Fury who he believes like 90% of the boxing world — won the fight:
The thing is though, okay, granted, Wilder might not have the technical acumen in terms of pure boxing skills of Fury, but, at the end of the day, that power he has will always give him a chance against anybody.
He also clearly has huge heart but time will tell how a rematch will pan out with Fury in the new year.
The big question is who will have learned more from the fight going into a rematch?
One school of thought is that Fury will only get better and closer to peak fitness now that he’s gotten the ring rust totally out of his system from his extended break from the sport.
A good boxer always beats a good puncher as the history of the sport tells us time and time again.
