Vasyl Lomachenko On Why He Would Not Fight Manny Pacquiao

Ukraine Champion Boxer On Why He Left

‘Loma’ returns to work tonight in New York against Jose Pedraza whom he’s heavily favored to do a job on in style.

Should he win some genuinely exciting fights could be made for him in the new year.

Namely against the likes of Gervonta Davis or possibly even Mikey Garcia.

One such fight in the new year won’t be against Manny Pacquiao mind you, a former promotional stable mate of Lomachenko.

Pacquiao now faces Arien Broner in the new year and works on the other side of the street with powerful adviser Al Haymon.

Speaking to Radio Rahim of Seconds Out, Lomachenko said that he actually turned down a Pacquiao fight in the past:

“I didn’t want to be a man who made a name off an old legend.”

He added:

Me don’t want, me, my father or my team don’t want. Not because I’m afraid. We don’t want this fight because big difference age. I think he is too old, I think.”

Lomachenko’s fight tonight at Madison Square Garden will be shown live on ESPN and if he wins fans will be calling for some big name fights in the new year for the pound for pound maestro.
