Canelo Alvarez will move up to 168lbs for the first time next weekend when he challenges Rocky Fielding for the WBA ‘Regular’ world super-middleweight title.
He comes into the fight with career-high momentum after defeating arch nemesis Gennady Golovkin earlier this year in Las Vegas in a performance that surprised everyone in how he took the fight to the much feared ‘GGG’.
Ahead of next weekend’s fight at Madison Square Garden it’s clear to see that the Mexican boxing star has taken Fielding deadly serious:
While he’ll come into the fight a strong favorite, fighting up at 168lbs against a big super-middleweight in Fiedling should not be overlooked.
Fielding will be hoping his natural size and strength advantage can pay dividends for him no doubt.
The fight will mark the first in an eleven fight deal over five years for Canelo and promoter Golden Boy Promotions with the DAZN streaming service in the US.
The deal is estimated to be worth in the regions of $365 million.
