Pound for pound boxing star Vasyl Lomachenko may not have been at his best this weekend but it was still enough to get the job done via unanimous decision over Jose Pedraza at Madison Square Garden on Saturday night.
Lomachenko rival and former world champion Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis stopped Pedraza when he fought him back in 2017.
Straight away people were making comparisons to both fights and ‘Tank’ had this to say about Loma’s performance and in particular — his strong showing in the 11th round last night:
But didn’t stop him ??♂️— Gervonta Davis (@Gervontaa) December 9, 2018
He added:
2 shots vs 43 shots you pick ??♂️— Gervonta Davis (@Gervontaa) December 9, 2018
There’s only one way to settle this and that’s a fight.
At the end of the day.
Whether or not the Mayweather Promotions fighter will be matched with Lomachenko remains to be seen however.
Earlier this year Davis’ promoter Floyd Mayweather appeared intent on making the match but some conflict arose between he and Davis after a break down in communication surfaced on social media voiced by Davis himself on multiple occasions.
Things seem to be at least harmonious again between Davis and Mayweather Promotions’ CEO Leonard Ellerbe in recent times, so who knows, perhaps a Davis vs Lomachenko fight next year might not be totally out of the realms of possibilities after all.
Perhaps Davis and his handlers will be even more buoyed about a possible showdown after the less than usually faultless display from Lomachenko last night.
