Former world champion Chris Algieri knows a thing or two about Manny Pacquiao having shared the ring with him back in 2014.
PacMan won a unanimous points decision that night against the much taller Algieri.
While that was four years ago it perhaps is more representative of the version of Pacquiao we see today as opposed to the prime PacMan of old.
Speaking to EsNews, Chris Algieri said he’s leaning towards Pacquiao in the fight against Broner next month:
“Honestly with Pacquiao’s it’s hard to say because he’s definitely in his twilight but if you can’t hit him with one shot — you’re going to lose.
He’s active. He’s smart. He’s very, very smart the way he fights in the ring.”
He later added:
“It’s a cool match up. I think it will be interesting to see. We’re looking at Manny Pacquiao’s Hall of Fame Experience and he’s great at utilizing it too.”
You can’t buy experience as they say.
It seems to be a case of Pacquiao’s experience against Broner’s youth but a lot will tell on which version of either turns up come fight night on January 19th in Las Vegas.
