Founder and kingpin of Matchroom Sport, Barry Hearn has let his guard down on social media this evening amid ongoing negotiations to try to land his fighter Anthony Joshua a unification bout with WBC champion Deontay Wilder next year.
The renowned English sports entrepreneur has largely stayed behind the scenes in boxing in recent times as his son Eddie has built up their boxing stable over the last six years or so.
But Hearn senior was brought back into the fold earlier this year to meet old friend Shelly Finkel in New York in a bid to get to the fight over the line due to tensions between his son and Finkel.
Up until now negotiations have proven unsuccessful however and as things stand, we still don’t know who Joshua or Wilder will be facing next up in 2019.
