When one looks back on the boxing year of 2018 the undeniable comeback story of the year has to belong to Tyson Fury.
A man who lost an astonishing amount of weight to even get back into a professional boxing ring in the first place, who beat depression and mental health problems and who in the eyes of most won the WBC heavyweight title on away soil against Deontay Wilder (without getting the decision).
Yes, its been a year to remember for the furious one.
Perhaps his greatest achievement this year however was inspiring thousands if not hundreds of thousands of people around the world to overcome their own mental health issues and depression, this writer included.
Speaking on Christmas morning here’s what Fury’s had to say:
He’s made the word ‘dosser’ internationally famous this year.
On a serious boxing note, it looks like it’s full steam ahead to the Deontay Wilder rematch next up in 2019.
Negotiations are understood to be ongoing at this time but on the balance of probabilities the rematch appears to be the leading candidate for what is next up for both men.
