George Kambosos has been charged with the daunting job of being one of Manny Pacquiao’s chief sparring partners ahead of his upcoming bout on January 19th at the MGM Grand Casino in Las Vegas.
Pacquiao has looked razor sharp so far in camp over the last couple of months and is now right in the middle of the hardest part of sparring as the fight approaches in just under three weeks time.
Pacquiao has been known to be explosive in sparring over the years and at 40 years of age — he’s still as sharp and awkward as ever with his style it turns out.
Speaking to Villainfy Media, Kambosos said of the spars with Pacquiao:
“I’m a very fast fighter too. I punch and move very well. Usually no one can out speed me. It’s always fun and a challenge sparring him (though). I adjust pretty well. He’s still got that awkward style. Even with all those rounds, the angles, he moves nice — it’s still hard to catch him.”
He added:
“When you put on eight ounce gloves he’s going to do real damage (against Broner).”
The fight countdown is well and truly underway now as both Pacquiao and Broner put themselves through the fire over the next week or two to sharpening their weapons to full effect.
