When you look back at boxing this year there’s been so many outstanding stories and talents from a world level across the globe.
But when formulating an award for who actually was the best fighter of the year, it’s perhaps best to judge any such honor based on boxing merits alone and nothing else.
While Tyson Fury had a magical year from an inspiration standpoint and even an amazing one in the ring — his nomination for comeback of the year and inspiration of the year by the Ring Magazine are probably more of a favorite for him to win than the below.

Tyson Fury
Naoya Inoue
Vasyl Lomachenko
Oleksandr Usyk
All hugely successful, elite level, apex predators at the top of world boxing.
No doubt about that.
But for me and probably many others, I’d have to lean towards Usyk on the balance of fairness.
