Trusted Pacquiao Friend and Coach Reflects On Emotions Of Training PacMan

Buboy Fernandez has long been a staple in the Pacquiao training camps over the years as one of Manny Pacquiao’s best friends and assistant coaches in his career.

However in his last fight Fernandez was charged with the task of being the lead trainer for the Lucas Matthysse fight.

A decision questioned at the time by many in the boxing world.

Fernandez proved all the doubters wrong in the end — as Pacquiao rolled back the years last year in Malaysia to win by stoppage for the first time in nine years.

Later this month on January 19th Pacquiao takes on Adriend Broner and Fernandez has trained Pacquiao alongside Hall of Famer Freddie Roach once again and knows the pressure is still on him.

Speaking to Villainfy Media Fernandez said:

“I work hard because I know people expect more (now) what I’ve got to

– show again for this second time to handle Manny.

This is my big responsibility on my shoulders but with all of that I can train him hard

and do my best that Manny Pacquiao is number one and win the fight.”

On when he broke down in tears after Pacquiao beat Matthysse last time out, Buboy said:

“I could not imagine the happiness (at that time). Of course I didn’t expect to win the fight easy like that.”

Pacquiao will drive to Vegas from California with a convey of cars with his team surrounding him on route this day next week (Monday) most likely (if not the Sunday before) or at the very latest the Tuesday before the fight.

Pacquiao vs Broner will be shown live on Showtime pay per view and on ITV 4 in the UK.
