Mikey Garcia Reacts To Pacquiao Wanting The Winner of Him vs Spence

Mikey Garcia moves up two weight divisions later this year to take on IBF welterweight champion and pound for pound rated Errol Spence in his home State of Texas.

All in all, it’s possibly up there with one of the bravest moves of a fighter in years.

Reminiscent perhaps of when Amir Khan moved up two weight classes to take on Canelo Alvarez at middleweight which ended in brutal knockout defeat for the Brit a few years back.

Garcia is keeping his options open however for later in the year and a fight with Manny Pacquiao is something he’s still open to as well, particularly after PacMan said he is open to facing the winner of Spence vs Garcia.

Speaking to Fight Hype Mikey Garcia said:

“I know he (Pacquiao) wants the biggest fight for him also. My fight with Spence is a huge fight. Of course he’s interested. I’m sure he’d love to get in there with us. He wants obviously a challenge. He’s still competitive. Although he is older he’s still a world champion and still wants the best — that’s just the way he is. He’s a competitor.”

He added:

“I think that would be a huge fight (me against Pacquiao).”

He went on to say:

“I like it. I have always said I would fight Pacquiao for a few years. I’ve always said I’d like it as an opportunity. For a while I had a layoff and it was never really offered at that point but now I’d seems like more of an opportunity and I’d like forward to it.”
