Usually when things go quiet in boxing that’s a good sign.
A good sign in that the real players behind the scenes and the people that actually count are working on a deal and that something is super close to being announced for a fighter.
Middleweight knockout artist Gennady Golovkin lost his rematch to Canelo Alvarez last year in Vegas but ultimately it was another compelling and genuinely exciting fight to watch for fight fans.
Both men possess the type of styles that you’d have to imagine will just keep creating fireworks every time they clash in the ring.
Canelo however has moved on without Golovkin for now as the Mexican boxing star takes on Danny Jacobs next up on Cinco Ce Mayo weekend in early May back in Las Vegas.
Golovkin has been without a TV deal in the US for some time now following his former broadcaster HBO leaving the sport of boxing entirely last year.
Speaking this week to members of the press boxing promoter Eddie Hearn remained tight lipped on whether or not Golovkin is on the verge of signing with streaming platform DAZN but did confirm that talks are ongoing.
Whether it’s Fox, DAZN or ESPN, expect news very soon on ‘GGG’.
