A boxer who knows both Chris Eubank Jr and James DeGale better than most is of course former world champion George Groves.
Recently Groves retired from the sport but during a stellar career in the sweet science he beat both Eubank and DeGale in his time.
Last night Chris Eubank Jr won a unanimous points decision over Olympic champion and former world champion James DeGale at London’s 02 Arena.
Many complimented Eubank Jr for showing improvements in his fight game and skills for the first time in a while and also paid tribute to him for employing a full-time boxing coach and for listening to him in the corner last night.
At the same time, there has been many also saying DeGale was a shell of his former self and calling for him to call it a day following his comments before the fight that he would retire if he lost.
This is something George Groves has echoed:
Ultimately it is up to the boxer whether or not he hangs up the gloves and the decision is his and his alone.
If it is to be DeGale’s last fight he’s achieved more than most.
He became the first man in history from the UK to win an Olympic Gold medal and a legitimate professional boxing world title.
A record that will live on forever.
As for Eubank Jr, full credit to him. He now moves on to possible big fights later in 2019.
An on it goes again.
The boxing wheel turns once again as one man’s career takes an upward trajectory while another has decisions to make on what he will do from here on out.
