In what was a scrappy fight for the most part in the end Chris Eubank Jr won a deserved unanimous points decision over James DeGale at London’s 02 Arena this Saturday night.
Eubank Jr showed some decent improvements technically and showed that he could change things up mid fight and wasn’t the robot that some unfairly labelled him as.
He neglected to use the jab in the first half of the fight but as the bout came down the stretch he did start to use it more to be fair.
His right hand and sense of distance was quality at times on the outside too against a man in DeGale who was lauded as far superior to him technically going into the fight.
That said, there was one moment where technique went out the window entirely:
An incredible moment really.
Eubank Jr also scored two knockdowns in the fight which ultimately helped him get the nod on the scorecards.
Where he goes from here will be interesting.
Last night was ITV in the UK’s first pay per view in boxing and it will be interesting to see if there was enough interest in the fight numbers-wise to warrant another pay per view fight for Eubank Jr.
Many criticised the stream going down for people who bought it.
For people who tried to buy it on fight day via the phone it was also reported to be very difficult to do so.
It was their first one though to be fair.
