It had been thought for some time that Dillian Whyte was next in line with the WBC for a shot at champion Deontay Wilder outside of a rematch between Wilder and Tyson Fury taking place.
Or a possible unification with Wilder and Anthony Joshua which would also take precedence.
Neither of those are now happening next up for Wilder however and despite that, Dillian Whyte looks like he’s been left out in the cold again without a decent opponent.
Whyte turned down a rematch offer with Anthony Joshua in recent months as he was not happy with its value in the deal and the possible rematch of such a fight for him.
Joshua now faces Jarrell Miller next up on June 1st.
Whyte at this time has no confirmed opponent but is reported to be in talks to join ESPN like Tyson Fury recently did, so who knows, maybe a big fight between Whyte and Fury might be able to be made out of the heavyweight mess at the moment.
For the meantime, people are baffled by the WBC’s decision:
