Most people in boxing know how good Errol Spence is but tonight he really put it on display on the big stage against a fellow pound for pound undefeated star in Mikey Garcia.
Ultimately, too much skill and size won the fight for Spence as he ran out a unanimous points winner in Texas in front of just under 48,000 people as he continues to grow his star in front of big stadium crowds in America.
After the fight Spence called out boxing legend Manny ‘PacMan’ Pacquiao for a showdown as the Filipino icon got into the ring to reply:
“Sure, why not?”
Speaking after the fight to Fight Hype YouTube (hat tip) Pacquiao reacted to the fight and explained what, in his view, went wrong for Garcia and right for Spence:
It seems like a Pacquiao vs Spence unification next up is the narrative being pushed at the moment and if that is the case, it’s a quality match up and test for Spence.
Probably the toughest test of his career thus far as Pacquiao is nowadays a natural welterweight and still has plenty of boxing skill, speed and power of his own.
Even at 40 years of age.
