It is hardly surprising that the best boxer of his generation Floyd Mayweather is getting itchy knuckles again and thinking about making a comeback to a sport that has been with him his entire life.
He finished his pro boxing career officially in 2017 when he went 50-0 with a win over pro boxing debut maker Conor McGregor but many felt that we hadn’t seen the last of him.
He’s since kept himself in the media and even called out the likes of Manny Pacquiao in recent times.
As well as partaking in an exhibition bout last December 31st in Tokyo.
There’s still plenty of money on the table for one last fight and speaking to Helen Yee Sports Floyd Mayweather senior his father confirmed:
“Well, Floyd is going to get back in the gym and terrorize some things. It’s what’s going to happen. For real. Oh yes (he’s coming back). I think he is going to return when the right man gets in his face.”
In recent weeks it is thought that Mayweather junior has already returned to some boxing training and sparring in the gym in a bid to test his 42-year-old body to see what he has left.
The only real fight out there you could see him taking is a Pacquiao rematch at this stage.
Other than that, it’s hard to see him take a risk by coming back to boxing when he can still make plenty of money in no risk exhibition bouts.
Time will tell.
