Much of the build-up to next weekend’s Christina Hammer vs Claressa Shields middleweight unification has been interesting for a number of reasons.
From a credibility point of view its a no-brainer as it will see all four recognized middleweight titles on the line and a clash of two undefeated world champions with incredible amateur pedigree.
The clash of styles in itself with Hammer likely going to try to box and move with her superior reach versus Shields most likely needing to cut the ring off and be the hunter is interesting too.
But like a lot of big title fights these days there’s also been an element of bad blood.
Well, at least it appears that way for the cameras so far.
Shields has not been happy that she’s had to wait for the fight so long in the first place and because she felt Hammer tried to take advantage of her previously when trying to catch her a while back at a time when she just turned pro and had less experience.
She’s also labelled her ‘Miss Mover’ in a jab towards her style of fighting.
Through the following gum shield Hammer has had a simple response in the form of the words:
“F*** Shields.”
The fight takes place next Saturday, April 13th at the Boardwalk in Atlantic city live on Showtime.
