Long time UK star boxer Amir Khan came up short this past weekend when stepping up once again to face one of the best in the sport.
Something he’s tried to do for much of his career to his credit.
Pulling out of the fight after an accidental low blow brought about many boos however at Madison Square Garden and one wonders what Khan will do next.
The Kell Brook fight is still there of course but it is unclear if either guy really wants the fight at this stage.
Speaking on his official Twitter account after this weekend’s proceedings Khan said:
“The last 12 months have been brilliant. After a long layoff with hand injuries I fought 3 times. Lo Grego, Vargas and Crawford. Thank you for all the support and motivation everyone. Will have a nice break and with my family and friends. I will announce something soon.”
Indeed, it has been a busy 12 months for Khan following what before that was a tumultuous time in and out of the ring for him.
Whatever decision he chooses after here he’s had a great career both amateur and professional up to this point.
One gets the impression that he won’t retire just yet however as he won’t want to retire on a loss, surely.
