Promoter of Mexican boxing superstar Canelo Alvarez, Oscar De La Hoya has taken a swipe at his charge’s closest rival following his latest bout this weekend.
Former middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin wiped out Steve Rolls inside four rounds at Madison Square Garden last night.
An expected result but nonetheless an impressive showing in New York.
Attention has straight away turned to the possibility of a third fight between Golovkin and Alvarez but by the looks of Oscar De La Hoya’s latest tweet don’t expect it next up at least:
Bitter much?
You’d have to say that both for Canelo and Golovkin the biggest fight out there for both men is against one another.
Therefore they both need one another as badly as the other does, really.
While there are other fights that of course can be made the biggest one by far is still a trilogy fight between the two.
Of course decent fights against the likes of Jermall Charlo, Danny Jacobs and others out there for both guys next up – overall fighting one another is still by a mile the biggest fight out there.
That being said the fact the two are now fighting on the same network in theory a fight between the two (Golovkin and Canelo) should not be that hard to make.
Never say never in this crazy old game.
