Canelo Alvarez Reaction Seconds After Brutally Knocking Out Sergey Kovalev

Tonight proved to be a big night for Mexican boxing star Canelo Alvarez who produced a huge right hand late on in his fight with Sergey Kovalev.

Stepping up from middleweight to light-heavyweight (175 lbs) to take on WBO champion at the weight class Kovalev, Canelo sent out a statement with his massive knockout tonight.

Going into the fight in months previous it was expected that Alvarez would take on long time middleweight rival Gennady Golovkin in a trilogy fight but talks fell apart.

The fight with Kovalev was put together relatively quickly in the subsequent scramble to find an opponent in the aftermath and despite complaints of fans having to wait so long for the fight tonight, they got treated to a huge knockout in the end.

Here is what Alvarez’ reaction was moments ago in Las Vegas in the ring:

As for what’s next for Canelo, who knows.

Will he move back down to middleweight?

It is doubtful after such a big move up to light-heavyweight, particularly after such an explosive knockout win at the weight too.

All in all, Canelo truly cemented himself tonight as the biggest name in boxing and quite possibly, in some people’s opinions now, the best pound for pound fighter in the world.
