Tonight’s big fight in Las Vegas ended with a bang. Quite literally.
Coming in the form of Mexican boxing super star Canelo Alvarez’ right hand as he exacted the perfect punch to render former light-heavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev out for the count at the MGM Grand.
Whenever a big fight involving Canelo rolls around there’s usually a bit of apprehension and debate about judging and scorecards in his fights following some controversy over the years.
But to be fair to Canelo, you have to hand it to him tonight — he took the decision out of the hands of the judges in the most sensational way possible.

Either way, whatever anyone’s opinion on the scorecards were tonight, Canelo took the decision out of their hands in the end.
Full respect to him for that and for treating boxing fans to such an emphatic stoppage tonight.
