Manchester’s Tyson Fury woke up this morning knowing that his highly anticipated rematch with one of boxing’s hardest hitting fighters ever is still on.
And in a big, big way next February.
WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder needed to come through a dangerous rematch in Luis Ortiz to keep the fight alive and he did so in some style.
This devastating knockout did the trick and just made the Fury rematch even bigger.
The pair fought last December in an epic encounter that saw both fighters battle to a draw in a show that really captured the public’s imagination and continued the revival of heavyweight boxing in recent years.
Following the fight Fury’s promoter Frank Warren had this to say on Twitter:
Fury’s trainer Ben Davison had this to say to the folks at Fight Hype YouTube:
The scene is now set for what promises to be a mammoth, gargantuan, colossal heavyweight battle for the WBC heavyweight championship of the world in February.
This Christmas will represent a tough training camp for both Fury and Wilder ahead of what should be a fight for the ages.
Expect news on how the broadcast will work between ESPN and Fox soon.
