This Saturday night sees one of the biggest fights of the year when Andy Ruiz Jr and Anthony Joshua battle it out in Saudi Arabia for three of the four heavyweight titles.
Ruiz shocked the world earlier this year in the first fight when he knocked out Joshua in New York, prompting the immediate rematch.
The first fight was a last minute turn of events following a failed drugs test by previously scheduled opponent for Joshua — Jarrell ‘Big Baby’ Miller.
Ruiz stepped into the fold and took his chance in spectacular fashion to become the first Mexican heavyweight champion in boxing history.
Ahead of the rematch on Saturday night promoted by Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Sport the full press conference took place a short time ago:
(Hat tip Matchroom)
This really has the makings of an unbelievable fight.
Both want this badly, for different reasons, and have clearly prepared incredibly well.
Perhaps you could say the pressure is on Joshua as a back to back loss would be catastrophic.
That said, if it was a good fight he could come again.
Time will tell how he deals with the pressure.
Essentially, he’s carrying an entire country on his back by himself on Saturday night as British boxing’s main star and as a superb role model for both the sport of boxing and the United Kingdom.
Sit back, relax and enjoy what could be one of the great heavyweight battles of the modern boxing era come Saturday night.
