Undefeated young American talent Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis lived up to his nickname tonight with another powerful knockout.
Fighting in Atlanta, taking on veteran Cuban boxer Yuri Gamboa, Davis wasted little time.
As early as round 2 Davis had Gamboa down with a left hand.
As the bout progressed Davis continued to dominate, forcing Gamboa to eat a lot of uppercuts.
Indeed, Gamboa surprised many with his ability to stay in there as long as he did in the end.
But the writing was on the wall.
Eventually.
Alas, the 38-year-old Gamboa was no match for 25-year-old Davis and the end came in round 12.
When the end came it really came in brutal fashion.
Here’s how it happened:
A big message sent out tonight by Davis, no doubt about that.
What a way to end the year.
With the win Gervonta Davis improved his professional record to 23-0-22 KO.
Some interesting fights are just around the corner for him in 2020 one suspects.
Names that spring to mind include Vasyl Lomachenko, Devin Haney and Tevin Farmer.
Time will tell if we get to see one of them.
