Mikey Garcia bounced back from the first loss of his pro career in strong fashion this Saturday night with a fine display over Jessie Vargas.
Garcia hadn’t fought in almost a year since his unanimous points decision loss to Errol Spence last March.
Since then Garcia moved network and found himself boxing on streaming service DAZN tonight in a new fight by fight deal with promoter Eddie Hearn.
Garcia showed he was still as sharp as ever with this knockdown early on in round 5:
Garcia would go on to win comfortably by unanimous decision at the Ford Center in Frisno.
Fighting at welterweight, it will be interesting to see if Garcia chooses to remain at the weight moving forward.
Personally, I thought lightweight suits him a bit better where he looked to be far more natural and dangerous at in years gone by.
Fighting these bigger guys, certainly at the top level as he found out last year — is no an easy task.
