Tonight’s fight on ESPN in Las Vegas has got people talking as Teofimo Lopez really announced himself with a career defining win thus far over Ukraine’s Vasyl Lomachenko.
World champion inside 15 fights who many wrote off as having a crazy father who believed in his son too much.
Father and son proved the haters wrong tonight.
On his 16th pro fight — he took down one of the modern era’s great fighters pound for pound.
So much so that legends of the sport such as Mike Tyson have woken up and taken notice.

Lopez will have catapulted himself into the big time after tonight during a time where very little noise is being made in the sport.
This, in many ways, was what boxing needed in terms of another injection of life into it for the year that has been in it.
Lopez will move himself directly into pound for pound debates in terms of the top 10 or higher after this.
Unquestionably a huge victory tonight.
Teofimo Lopez without doubt is the real deal and although a big gamble to put him in there with someone like Lomachenko, one that paid off.
So many big fights out there for him, the likes of one against fellow young American boxing star Devin Haney springs to mind.
Kudos to Teofimo Lopez and his father tonight.
They proved why you should always back yourself and listen to yourself first and foremost.
