In a year for boxing that has seen very few (like all sports) of its stars compete former heavyweight champion Andy Ruiz Jr finds himself a part of that list.
Since relinquishing his belt in the far east to the UK’s Anthony Joshua, Ruiz has taken time off as well as joining a new training camp.
Under previous trainer Manny Robles Ruiz had previously shocked the world by upsetting Joshua in their first bout in NY but has opted for a different direction moving forward.
He’s linked up with pound for pound super star Canelo Alvarez’ head coach, Eddy Reynoso.
A move questioned by many but until the proof in the pudding is exhibited in their first outing together only time will tell.
Speaking on the move by ex trainer Robles he had the following to say:

Interesting stuff and indeed he’s right.
It is all up to Andy Ruiz at the end of the day.
It will be interesting to see when and who his first fight since defeat to Joshua will be eventually against.
