It is quite impressive that boxing super star Canelo Alvarez appears to be still improving fight to fight.
A testament to his attitude in a year that has seen the world turned upside down that he has been improving his craft like this.
Indeed, he has come a long way since defeat to Floyd Mayweather years ago.
You can see like a true champion the mistakes he made in that fight have been worked on.
Working on his weaknesses over the years is now paying dividends.
He’s used it to become the champion he is today.
At one point in the fight tonight against the UK’s Callum Smith he executed a move that can only be described as sweet science poetry in motion:
Text book stuff.
A real insight into boxing for any young boxers turning in tonight.
Where he goes next after this is anyone’s guess.
He calls the shots as it were and is his own boss.
He is by far the biggest star in boxing at this point and it will be up to him what he does next.
It will be interesting to see how many viewers and buys he does tonight.
Perhaps this will allow him to make a wise decision as to where he wants to take his fight next after he examines the various claims and sees the truth.
I would have liked to have seen better promotion and marketing for boxing’s biggest star than this week.
Same for the Golovkin fight last night.
Didn’t seem to be as much buzz as usual but alas, Canelo and Golovkin both chalked in excellent displays this weekend.
